Types of trees


There are two main types of trees - 
  1. Evergreen Trees - they don't lose all of their leaves at the same time. They lose some leave but new leaves grow to replace the old ones.
  2. Deciduous Trees - They lose all their leaves part of the year. In cold climates, you see fall colors in autumn and the trees are bare in winter. In hot and dry climates they lose their leaves during the dry season.​

Oak trees - There are both deciduous and evergreen types. An oak tree is famous for a nut call acorn, the flowers in spring are called catkins. Arbor del tule is the name of a famous Oak tree which is one of the widest tree in the world.

Pine tree - Have you ever seen a pine cone? If you have, then this is where it comes from, a pine tree. Pine trees are not that tall as other trees.

Maple trees - These are trees that you see everyday and everywhere. Maple trees don't grow as tall as oak trees but they are taller than pine trees.

​Apple trees - Before you see apples, you see small flowers and the leaves look like the ones you would draw. Apple trees are always planted on the grass.

Palm trees - They are very tall, they look like coconut trees. They are evergreen trees. They are used for landscaping.

Spruce trees - It is the smallest type of tree in the world. If a 6 yr old stands next to it, it will be the same height. They are evergreen.

Fir trees - There are many types of Fir trees. A lot of people like to buy them. The leaves look like cut-string. Fir trees are used for Christmas trees and to build houses.

Redwood trees - They grow very tall like a skyscraper to almost 300ft. They are mainly found in California. They can live upto 3000 yrs. General Sherman is the largest and heaviest living tree.
